Is the EPDM flat roof membrane easy to fit?

Yes! Anybody can lay a rubber roofing system. We supply a comprehensive EPDM rubber flat roof installation and training DVD which shows in great detail every flat roof type of fitting, and ways to overcome obstacles such as a flat roof vent or flat roof skylights

Do I need any special tools to install this flat roof system?

No specialist flat roof tools are required to fit the Rubberfix epdm flat rubber roofing system, only items such as a saw, screwdriver, hammer, sharp knife and scissors etc. It is a simple diy job.

Do I need to replace flat roof timber?

If there is flat roof damage such as rotten flat roof decking or timberwork, then the affected flat roof area would need replacing.

Do I need to strip the old flat roof material off before I start?

Only if your roof decking is soft, degraded or badly cracked and broken down, otherwise, you can leave it be, saving yourself a lot of time and energy. The Rubberfix roofing system uses geotextile underlay, which acts as a barrier between the substrate (old felt or similar material) and the epdm membrane. This is laid on top of the old roofing material prior to fitting the epdm membrane. The geotextile underlay also has thermal insulation properties.

Does the roof need to be perfectly dry before installation?

Your roof will never be perfectly dry as all flat roofs have a certain amount of water retention although the drier the better.

Can it be covered with flags, blocks etc
Yes, it can be flagged, concreted over or covered with wooden decking. The epdm membrane is very versatile and is a perfect sealant solution for a patio or balcony.

What if I get stuck during installation?
No problem! Refer back to your instructional and training DVD. Still stuck? Just give us a ring and we will talk you through the job giving sound advice in simple laymans terms.

Can it be used on any flat roof construction or flat roof design?
Prefabricated flat roof garages or a flat roof extension with a corrugated flat roof coverings are not suitable, but any flat roof structure or flat roof building with a solid flat roof substrate (can be walked upon) can have an EPDM flat roof installation

What if I prefer a flat roof roofing contractor to do the work?
